How To Get Your Flat Stomach Back After Pregnancy - The Belly Wrap Secret
Brooke Burke's Postpartum Belly Wrap (Belly Band)
Haven't you wondered why there is no easy cure to flabby tummies?? Why isn't there something to help women get back in shape easily after losing control of their bodies' shape during pregnancy?? Well, such an article has not been created yet, but I assure you that the belly wrap (aka belly band) is the one article that will aid with getting your stomach flat again. It Worked For Me And Many Women I Know.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with any belly band company. I write this because I want to share my experience and provide a more thorough and complete source of information for women who are researching this option. As I did not find enough information when I was doing the same.
Most of the time, when women experience their first pregnancy, they become reading freaks. I am sure that most women out there, especially with their first pregnancy, read every book that came to their reach. The pregnancy book, what to expect when you are expecting, during pregnancy books, delivery books, after pregnancy books, first year of baby books, getting back in shape books...you name it. All this reading is amazing for learning and feeling a bit more comfortable and secure with that huge first time experience. But no book out there (that I know about) has ever mentioned the real deal. No book out there will really prepare you and warn you about what happens to the body after giving birth. If you think that gaining a few or a lot of pounds, swelling, momnesia, and hair loss are all you will have to deal with, let me tell you something, you are nowhere near the truth!!!
The Unwanted After Baby Belly
Actress Tells The Truth About After Pregnancy Stomach
You Don't Know What Is Crawling Up Your Leg
While some women (lucky them), experience almost no after-birth effects, most do experience them. Do not worry, it is common, and you are not the first to experience these. The big butt, huge boobs, loose skin, and even the blues are all reversible. The sooner you start working on these after giving birth, the better.
My first baby was born on February 2008. I had the healthiest of pregnancies and almost no discomforts what so ever. I gained the weight I was supposed to gain and never even got weird cravings. The last two weeks were a bit uncomfortable though, as the baby kept growing and my poor skin kept stretching to give him room. The burning sensation was not fun. Finally, I had to have a c-section, because my baby was way too big for my frame (as the doctor put it). I guess that is what happens when a little Colombian woman (I would say average actually) marries a humongous American. I don't even want to think about what is going to happen to my best friend who married a German.
And well, the c-section is a bit painful the first few days, but other wise you just have to be extra careful. That is what had me worried...No exercise for 3 months at least. Gosh!!! When and how was I ever going to get back in shape?? Right then, I definitely decided to try out my mom's old secret: the belly wrap.
I was worried. Not that I was huge after the baby, in fact I only had 7 lbs extra, of which most were water retention that the body gets rid off naturally. But I was definitely not toned and was very out of shape. And it was going to end up being worse if I was not even allowed to climb stairs. Oh I tell you, it is not an easy time for a mom. As happy as you can be about your new baby, every time you look in the mirror all you see is something that is not yourself.
I started wearing the belly wrap the day I got home from the hospital, which was the third day after giving birth. I wore it 24x7, only taking it off to shower. And not only did it get my skin reattached to the muscle, but it gave me a lot of support also, as the stomach muscles are very weak after pregnancy.
I stopped wearing the belly wrap after six weeks. I wish I had taken pictures of the before and after, because WOW did it work!!!
Before And After The Belly Wrap
How The Belly Wrap Will Get Your Stomach Flat
Belly wraps have been used for centuries for different medicinal purposes. Japanese medicine insists on the importance of posture, support and warmth on the abdominal area, and they achieve this with their Haramaki (belly wrap). Belly binding in Japan is something as common and natural as eating rice everyday.
Latin America calls it Faja and Latin women have also used this binding method for centuries, searching to provide heat and energy. India and parts of Europe believe wholeheartedly on its benefits.
By compression, these wraps are designed to help get the loose skin attached to the muscle, avoiding things like water to accumulate in that specific area(water retention). It is as simple as that!!! Now a days, banding is used after liposuction, as the grease that is in between the skin and the muscle is sucked out and the skin needs pressure to reattach to the muscle. SIMPLE and IT WORKS.!!
Just be aware that the belly wrap will take care of loose skin and support the stomach muscles on getting back to work, but if you want your firm six pack back, you have to work them out (as soon as you can).
The Belly Wraps can be worn within 24 hours of giving birth and for a period of 4 to 8 weeks.
Types Of Belly Wraps
There are several types of belly wraps. Some are simple and suitable for the purpose, some are more "sophisticated" and expensive and most probably achieve what they proclaim to do. Whichever you choose, make sure it fits very snugly but comfortably when you first wear it, as when you start getting slimmer you need the belly wrap to keep on compressing that tummy.
The following are a few types of belly wraps that I know about. All of them have been used by friends with success. They have worked and are surely going to be used after future pregnancies.
- Velcro - Belt Belly Wrap: this is the one I used. The doctor actually recommended I get a belly wrap since I had a c-section. It is difficult to use the stomach muscles after pregnancy and it is worse after a c-section, therefore the wrap is recommended primarily for support. This is the one I chose for myself because it is made of cotton and so it is soft enough for wearing over the wound. I also liked the fact that the Velcro could be fastened anywhere around the wrap, so it would never be too big or feel loose. I loved it, and when I finally stopped wearing it, my skin had attached well to the muscle. The only thing I did not like is that it bulged underneath the clothes and so it could be noticed.
- Complete Pull-Up Wrap (with underwear): this belly wrap is ideal for wearing underneath clothes, as it does not show at all. Since it comes attached to the underwear, you need to buy enough of these to change every day (no need to explain why). When buying it, you must be careful with the sizing because your butt must fit in it as well and when you slim down you don't want it to be loose. Since it is not adjustable the best bet is buying smaller sizes when needed.
- Half Pull-Up Wrap (no underwear): this belly wrap does not have the underwear part, therefore it is probably a better option. It is not fastened by any means, but it is all made out of expandex cotton. It does not show under the clothes and sizing is easy. It was perceived as very comfortable.
- Button-Up Waist Cincher: if you have had a c-section, I do not recommend you use this one. As it is very tight and uncomfortable. Sizing is a bit hard because they come very very tight. It is a button up piece made of cotton lining and rubber on the outside. I would probably not buy this one without trying it on. It was found very uncomfortable
- Post-Surgical Girdle: this one is the one recommended for post-lipo use, but it also works for after birth wonderfully. It actually helps the tissues get reattached much faster. It is considerably more expensive, but it is comfortable, does not show under clothes and it does not only target the stomach section but the entire torso, which is great.
- Full Body Post-Surgical Girdle: this one has the same benefits as the one immediately above, but it covers a larger portion of the body. It has an opening on the crotch area so you don't need to take the whole thing off to go to the bathroom. Make sure you understand the sizing charts, as you want it to be tight but not painful.
How To Choose A Belly Wrap
The belly wraps usually come in the sizes small, medium and large. The merchant usually shows the range of waist sizes that would fit into each wrap. When they are not adjustable they come in a wider selection of sizes. My rule is to buy the size you wore before pregnancy (unless you gained too much weight). For a better fit, measure your actual waist size with a measuring tape to compare it with the charts provided by the merchants.
Here are a few extra tips:
- Belt Wraps: the size is determined by waist size (go for smaller though)
- Button-up Wraps: they are tighter than most others so be careful when choosing this one.
- Pull-Ups: the size is determined by waist. This one is not adjustable, so make sure it is very snugly so it will do its job for as long as you need it.
- Full Body Girdles: merchants give specific size charts in which you choose according to 3 measures, usually weight, hips and bust. Follow these and you will get the one right for you.
- Any piece with rubber is always smaller and it will not expand to put on, so review the sizing charts closely.
Jessica Alba Shares Her Belly Wrap Secret
- Jessica Alba Wore A Girdle!! (Read The Complete Story Here)
“I wore a girdle",the actress tells the March issue of Elle. "Eight weeks after my girlfriend had her baby, you could see her six-pack. She told me to put an elastic band around my waist – any kind of band or girdle works."
Other Benefits Of The Belly Wrap
- It will be an everyday reminder of reaching your back-to-shape goal.
- If you feel that your torso and abdomen areas are very week and that you are finding it a bit difficult to sit up and move in general, the belly wrap will give this area support allowing more mobility and therefore letting you be more active.
- Support on the abdomen when you carry the baby. If you have noticed, your stomach tends to stick out more when you are carrying the baby. This only promotes the abs to hang more. The belly wrap will keep the abdomen firm and tight.
- Some belly wraps aid with blood circulation and cellulite reduction. Read the specifications to find out.
- You will be satisfied with less food as the stomach has no room to expand to allow you to eat and eat.
- It aids with good posture and corrects it.
What Should Go Along With The Belly Wrap To Get Your Flat Belly Quicker
Remember that all skins are different and some may stretch easily and go back to their original state just as easily, but others take longer and need a little help.
The belly wrap helps with attaching the skin back to the muscle, it does not tone or give you a six pack. That, you have to work for separately. There are a few things that you should do to get your flat stomach back and your shape back, to kick the baby-blues off, and get back to your pre-pregnancy activities quicker. These are a few:
- Oil: this is another Colombian secret that we fondly stick to. Mix some oil with your body moisturizer. I use almond oil, but any body oil is fine, some people even use olive oil. Make sure you use it after every shower ALL OVER your body (this should be done throughout the pregnancy as well). I mix 1/2 cup of oil with a big 725ml bottle of body moisturizer.
- Liquids: drink plenty of water, decaf teas, real squeezed juices.
- Activity: start up some kind of activity as soon as you can. It does not have to be a 2 hour extenuous workout. Begin with a walk around the block, make it two walks later on or a longer one. When you feel up to it wear ankle weights.
- Nutrition: eat healthy and nutritious meals. Stay away from fatty foods, sugar, refined carbs, sodas...
- Patience: patience is a virtue. Take it easy, it took 9 months for the body to get where it is, so don't rush. You will see changes and results little by little.
"I wrapped an elastic compression garment from my hips to my ribs for 40 days. It supports all that baggy skin and engages your core muscles" says B. Burke

Postpartum Binder Questions Or Comments?
Dear Sloan, Thank you for your kind comment. I am glad you found this hub useful. I know, a lot of times, I would like to have more information on things before making any decisions. Take care!!!
How do belly wraps work years after having a baby? Is it any use to try one?
Hello Christina, I am not sure about how successful it would be to wear a belly wrap years after pregnancy. I have heard of women wearing them a couple of months after and still seeing results. I will research on this matter and get back to you here.
If any one has used a belly wrap years after the baby please do share with us your experience.
All the best!!!
I have 4 year child. In these days my stomach looks like a pregnant. I am doing exercises but my stomach is not regaining its shape. I am 32 years old. My work is computer operating throughout the day. I have no time to do walk. whenever I have time I am walking. Please suggest me about belly wraps how I keep my stomach to regain its shape.
shylaja, as I mentioned on the previous comment, I do not know if wearing a belly wrap years after the pregnancy is going to give the same results as if you wear it straight away. From what you mention, it also seems like your belly has a lot to do with posture, as you are sitting in front of a computer for too long. I would definitely get a belly wrap that offers plenty of back support as well, that way you are sure that your tummy is tucked in and that you are sitting properly. Maybe try something along the lines of the Ladies Cotton Rubber Posture and Tummy Control Fat Burner
Make sure you try to squeeze in a bit more activity in your days as well.
nice hub
I did a bit of my own research, and I think a belly wrap would be useful at any time in a woman's life.
The purpose, as you stated, is to help the skin adhere to the muscles. If it works after liposuction and with natural weight loss, then it should be useful at any time. By compressing the waist, one does not feel as hungry. By supporting the back, one has more energy, and is able to move more freely. Also, because of its supportive nature, I think it also helps to tone the belly and lower back.
High waisted jeans, tho not always flattering, have a similar effect. I have resorted to them for years, and have a trim waist, despite five children. :D
This is a great and very informative article, thanks. I was trying to find more information on belly bands. I am an expat living in Japan at the moment and I am due to have my first baby soon. Women here use belly bands after pregnancy. I tell you, they are some hot mammas. I am going to wear one for sure, it never hurts to try.
Linda, Thank you for your comment. Good luck with that baby coming soon and do try out a belly wrap. Let us know how it goes??
Very informative and well written hub! I also struggled with gettig my pre baby body back and foudn that i was fortunate enough that diet and exerciuse were all i needed, but a wrap would have been nice before the weight came off!
I also believe in changing lifestyle improving nutrition and adding workout to daily activity. I have a blog to share information about how to burn stomach fat at http://www.lose-it-now.net/burn-stomach-fat/. Hope you get a chance to visit and share your knowledge.
pls my baby is four months old,can i use the belly wrap or girdle.what's the different between the two.thanks for the information.
beatrice, yes, you can still use a belly wrap. Belly wrap and girdle are two names for the same thing. You can read this article to find out more about them and how to chose one. Take care!!
what about getting your nice big butt back, will it ever come back?
I have a friend who used Tauts and the other cheapie hospital brand. it fell apart on her the second week she used it. My best friend used the belly bandit and lost almost all of her baby weight! I thought she was just lucky, but I was still curious and so far belly bandit is the only thing any of my friends have used that works! I tried the belly bandit and in 2 months ALL of my weight I gained was gone, and I’m toning up now! I’m in love with it!!
This is a great page! I not only appreciate the information as I , 3 weeks post birth, look into belly binding ( I had no idea my stomach was going to look like it does-ugh!), but I appreciate the perspective and tone in which it's written. I love how your page is infused with bits of info to let that first time mom know this is totally normal and many women experience this postpartum tummy issue. You've sold me on belly binding and I hope it works! Thanks :)
I had a baby 5months ago, will the belly wrap help me? or has it been to long?

Gia, Thank you so much for your comment. I was a first time mom once and would have loved some tips to help myself get back into shape. Take care and good luck with everything!!!

this page was extremely helpful. i am eight months pregnant and i am trying to find out to best way to get my stomach flat again an be back small.
Hello MRS Great Caruso and thanks for a very interesting read. OK, so I am not a woman so I'm unlikely to get pregnant any time soon, but a lot of my lower ab workout readers are women who would find this very useful, so I will be directing them to your hub as it's the best advice I have seen on belly wraps.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this information. Me and my husband are soon going to try having a baby. While I do want a child very desperately, I was afraid of what it'll do to my body. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting my looks before my baby. But I've been the ugly duckling all my life, being laughed at how ugly I looked. Once my body fully grew, I all of a sudden started looking attractive and most of the credit goes to my body, it looks very athletic. I'm 24 and it's really just been 2-3 years that I have been complimented. And I finally like how I look. I don't want that to go away. Knowing that there are ways to prvent and cure belly fat makes me more comfortable with the idea of being pregnant. I want to know everything that I can do during and after pregnancy to keep me and my baby healthy and restore how I look now. I've started my research and you made me feel very comfortable. thank you. Soon I'll be completely ready to go ahead with this and I'll soon have my family :D
Thanks so much for this great page! I am 6.5 months pregnant with my first. Losing my body has been such an emotional horror, and I know I have a long way to go. The guilt associated with hating being pregnant... trying to convince myself "It'll be okay. I'll get my tiny waist back"... then freaking out again at the idea that I won't. This article, complete with reader comments, actually offers a bit of hope. I already purchased a Belly Bandit on a tip a while ago, but landing here has left me more informed. Thanks again!
Vimi and Spharoe, Thank you so much for your comments!!! I understand how you both feel. I think most of us go through similar worries. But just remember, that if you set your mind to it, any change is reversible.
I am still reading a lot about getting back in shape after pregnancy, because I still want to have at least one more kid. And the only other thing that I started doing was to start wearing ankle weights to walk. It has helped me a lot to strengthen my legs, butt and abs as well:)
thank you for the info , l have bought one and my child is 18months old will it work for me
Hi, I am from India. Pls let me know, where can I get this belly Wrap in India.
Thank u so,so much. U av greatly eased my anxiety over my post baby belly. Will definitely go shopping for a good belly band n wear it 24/7 as u did. Thank u 4 all oda tips to. God bless u.
I had my baby 11 months ago. I tried using the belly wrap but was in so much discomfort I gave up on it. I am now going to the gym and also on a calorie controlled diet. I am now using the belly wrap and it really works. I have also taking Acai Berry supplements for just over a week and gosh...THE FAT IS JUST MELTING AWAY!
Hi, I had my son 2 years ago - will the belly wrap still work for me & how long shold i keep it on for.
take care
i heard that these wraps just get u in shape wn u wear it but once u get it off ur muscles are lazy and may be back in bad shape...and that these wraps don't exercise the muscles and just hold it....is it true?
Great hub I heard about the belly wrap and I am def going to use it after I have a baby or maybe even now.
I heard from a few friends' experiences that a wrap helps maintain posture which helps the tone of the stomach but never knew so much until reading this.
Nice work.
One of my friends also advised in rope jumping after some time as this helps burns fat and also tones the tummy.
I would say with regards to the nutrition side that a tip well worth remembering is to eat plenty of eggs. Scrambled, poached or as an omlette all work well. Eggs really help to keep you feeling fuller for longer so you need to eat less each day and so you get your flat stomach back sooner.
What kind or brand of post surgical girdle and Velcro Belt Belly wrap would you recommend that has a reasonable price?
Very Informative
I have a severe case of diastasis rectic (muscle seperation). I had my first child in January 09 and my second in December 09. It been 4 1/2 months since my c-sec and I still look like I'm 6 months pregnant. I was desperate to do something about it because I can't do any abdominal excercise until my tummy muscles join again.
After reading this hub and several others I decided to get a belly bandit wrap which I found was also sold in Malaysia.
And I have lost 2 inches off my tummy in just five days. My clothes don't hug my tummy as much. Although it was a little pricy but it was well worth it. I am so excited to see what happens in the next few months. Thanks again for this hub as it was very helpful.
Thank you for your informative article. After looking at a few name brand "post pregnancy belly bands" I was getting discouraged. They are all so overpriced! I am glad to know now that I have more than one choice when it comes to belly binding. You've answered all of my belly binding questions! Thank you for sharing your experience. As a new mom, I find this very helpful.
Hi there,
Thanks for this article, and the comments. I gained a good amount of weight with my first pregnancy 4 years ago (my daughter is 3 now). A number of Latina friends told me to wear a belly wrap after delivery to help me regain my shape. I thought it was just an old wive's tale, so I didn't take their advice.
Now, years later and despite going to the gym 3 times a week and doing tons of sit-ups, I still look like I'm pregnant, and still get asked when I'm due! I am so desperate, I finally decided to try a belly wrap. I will post here after a month or two to let others know how it's working. Good luck to all!
Wow, what an informative article. I am not pregnant yet but wanted to know the options out there to getting post baby body back. Thanks so much for doing this research, was very helpful. When I do get pregnant and have a baby, I will let you know the results. We are currently trying for baby...
I am very ancious abt a belly wrap. i will go and buy one immediately.it is just 4 months ago since i gave birth but i was beggining to give up.it is really big especially the upper part ,so u can immagine what kind of shape that is.i pray it works 4 me.otherwise thx 4 this info.
I got a c-section 2 years ago. Will the belly wrap still effective to help me get back to my shape? Im 28 years old and right now I almost went back to my original weight. But I worry about my abs because it's really bulgy.
hi all,i had my 2nd child 5 months ago via emergency section and ny 1st baby 16 months previous to that also by c section.im just wondering if i have left it to late to try this? i have horrible over hanging skin and find all clothing uncomfortable and have absolutely no self confidence.i have even been looking at surgery as its so bad.
the information available in here is very helpful for new and old moms. but one question in my mind is, for how many hours should one wear this belt in a day.
thank u.
I was not able to find a belly band that would work with my c-section but I know others who have had a lot of success if they wore it consistently.
were can i buy one of these!!! im 19 years old and have a 1 year old. i had to have a c section, and my stomach has never bin the same!! i want to try this!!!
I do think it helps to immediately start wearing this RIGHT AFTER having the baby due to the fact that your bones are STILL soft (remember -- the hormone relaxin helps to soften bones needed to expand for the baby to be born), and this hormone still exists for awhile after baby is born, so moving them all back "somewhat" into place is easier... I've also heard that banding/wrapping up to 12 weeks after baby is born is even better, so probably best to get a band that will last, as it will be more cost effective.. Awesome article!
hi, thanks for the great article! i am interested in the half pull up belly wrap but i can't seem to find where to buy one... anyone know where that specific kind is sold? thanks!
hi all i had my first child and my belly is still as iam pregant.i have tried every bit of things and nothing seems to be working.i look really horrible with the extra skins
what shall i do to go back to my normal size,
where in Cape Town South Africa can i purchase the belly wrap?
this might be a stupid question but are you supposed to keep the belly wrap on during workouts? (particularly during abdominal workouts, i.e. crunches)
is it to safe to wear a belly wrap after 18 months of delivery i had c section, plz comment on this
Thanks for the great article. I just bought a Tauts post pregnancy wrap from www.babooshbaby.com and I love it. So far, so good. I even found a discount code "RM10" that saved me 10% at checkout. I highly recommend the tauts or some sort of belly wrap after pregnancy. thanks again for all the good information
I also have the muscle separation and still look pregnant too. I didn't know about belly band until recently but I purchased a back support that wraps around my belly, felt much better but was wondering if that is ok, will it work the same as a belly band since I did pay alot for the back support?
Also do you know of any inf. on how to fix the muscle separation, exercises anything? Never knew this could happen, had alot of discomfort in pregnancy under belly button and that was the uterus separating the muscles to make room for baby 10 pds 6 ounces. Apparently it can happen to petite moms with extra big babies. Never happened with my prior preg. 9pds 6 ounce baby. Has me quite freaked out. I do not want to look pregnant. Help Thanks
I wore one, after my children, and my stomach returned to normal after 10 weeks. You could also wrap material around your waist. As long as you tighten the skin around the belly, it will help - post partum. Not sure about later on in life... It doesn't help you build muscle.
Wow, interesting information. I hadn't heard of this method before.
This is a big concern for many who are pregnant. Thanks for the article.
well thanks was so anxious also abt this with me im habing my second baby in a month's time will def get one didnt wen i had my son and regretted it everybody in my familydoes belly binding and it doesnt even take them more than a month to get bac to shape ofcourse with a couple of sit ups in the morning cz after pregnancy ur back is usually really painful to handle the sit ups...so this time around im not gona be the ''i wish i had done it person''
howeva with me i have a small posture and dont gain much wen im pregnant i even like the weight gain in every other area excluding the tummy..wat kinda of exercise do i do without losing the weight but losing the belly fat??please help
I'm pregnant with twins. I'm definately going to try this after! Thank you. It was a good article.
I had a C section a month ago I just started wearing a belly wrap because I was so sore, is it to late to start and how often should I be wearing it?
Wow this works i must u it immediately i hv my son next week God bless
how tight should we wrap it around ?? also when i wrap the velcro belt, it bunches up around the belly button making a vertical divide around it. is it ok ?? or would it give me a vertical wrinkle??
I used my mom's old girdle for the first 3 weeks along with a compression band from Sears. She saved them from the time she gave birth to me in Hong Kong 31 years ago! They were falling apart & the elastic wasn't holding in place on my lower belly so I ordered the Belly Bandit. Let me tell you, it works great! I wished I had ordered it before giving birth because it is super comfortable, stays in place & covers from my ribs all the way to my hip bone. My posture is better & helps me sit up when nursing my baby boy. I ordered 2 sizes but the bigger size was already too small because I had been compressing my belly already for 3 weeks. Within 1 week my stomach looked flat already. I will continue using this up to 8 weeks along with ab exercises after 4 weeks.
Such a great article, I'm certainly going to try this after giving birth.
i have 4 and a half month old baby. i gave birth by c-sec. can a belly band help me now?
hi first time on this link i have been using a belly wrap since i had my baby, i am 19 n have always been size small on shirts n size 0 n pants, know that i had my baby i still wear the same size of clothes but have the terrible belly what kind of wrap should i wear, to help me loose the belly.
I'd love to hear some success stories from mothers who tried this over a year from delivery, as well as moms who have diastasis recti. Please email me at terrahmother at gmail dot com.
I must get me one of those Asap!
I got a baby 10 years ago show me how to take care my tummy flat.
I had a c-section before 4 months. Now my belly is out and looking like i am pregnant. If i am using any of the above mentioned Wrap will help me as i had completed 4 months after c-section.
Hi, i just had my son 11 weeks ago & just heard about this BELLY BANDIT! could this still work for me or is it to late?! *: ) thanks
can i start wearing after 2 months.. i wore belt first month then i quit but now its just two months past can i restart it?will it work?
My son is 9. I'm wearing a support wrap I wore when I was pregnant with him. I sleep in it and I wrap it very tight and I can tell it has flatten my stomach even now. Eventhough I'm not pregant and cannot have anymore kids (my tubes are tied) it is working for me. I'm going to buy the babybandit and wear it. Keep in mind I do not eat a lot at dinner and I lift weights and run the tredmill incline level 7 about four days a week, but everey little bit that I can do helps. Good luck everyone!
girls, you can also try using a full set of corset consists of long bra, a waist nipper and a long girdle. I had 2 C-sects before of which i didnt really look after my body right after the pregnancy (too busy with the kids, i guess ;)) I'm starting to use this type of body wrap after my 2nd child reach 14 mths old. The one that I'm using proves to help me lose some unwanted fat..you can visit my blog for details of how it works. any corset should be able to produce similar results but if you're keen to try on the one i'm using, pls feel free to drop me an email. :)
This is a great hub! Haven't yet started having babies... but this topic has been hanging over my head...in fear of getting a really bad stomach after pregnancy. Thanks a lot!!!
I only gained 30 lbs during my pregnancy! I was 138 pre pregnancy! It is was my third child and I am 44 years old. I wore a belly band around my stomach day and night for 6 weeks. I only took it off to shower. It really did not work that well. I still look pregnant and I am at my pre pregnancy weight. I was very disappointed that it did not work for me! Total bummer!!!!
hi , am 20 weeks with twins and i gained 10 kilos already ;) for sure am getting the bellly band, thank you very much for sharing such valuable information which just confirmed to me all my grandma success story after giving birth to 11 and no belly at all . P.S am from sudan and almost all women there use the belly wrap after giving birth
hey great article. You can also wrap your belly with an ordinary cloth. They have been doing it in africa for years.
Thank u Mrs Great Caruso. This article is so enlightening. I had my beautiful baby boy 17 weeks and 4 days ago by emergency c section. This is my second section. My first section was 3 years and 11 months ago. I am going to buy the belly wrap and use it 24/7 for the next 12 weeks while continuing with my stomach clenches- 20 x 3 reps a day. I will post my progress report here. Listen ladies, ALL things are possible through Christ our strength. Just believe it will work and Jesus will give you the ability to continue and not give up. God bless and hope we all achieve our post-partum goals xxx (Blessed to be a Wife and Mother).
Hi, you have a photo of the post surgical girdle in the above article, which stops at the public line and doesn't include undies etc. I can't seem to find one like this on sale. Do you know where I can find one? I'm in Sydney Australia but happy to buy online. Cheers

Thank you for your help... it is a very generouse thing that you would make this article to help other women that you dont even know. I am planning a pregnancy and have not been taking my birth control for 2 weeks. I have always been so little but at the same time i had a great figure. im only near 19... and i would hate to have belly bulge at so young an age. I really appriciate this article and i will get a belly wrap and comment back on how it goes after the pregnancy. and please comment back and tell me (what are some good websites to buy girdles and ect.) (how bad are stretch marks on smaller girls... i weigh 105) (what can i do to prevent stretch marks and is there a good stretch mark cream that you would recommend) Thank you so much caruso and God bless you!! :)
Thanks so much for the informative page!! I've been pondering the belly bandit for months, but didn't want to spend the money if it was purely a gimmick product. I was so unhappy about the length of time it took to get my tummy back to what it was before baby number 1, but now I'll look forward to seeing how the wrap may quicken this process up!! Baby number 2 due in 7 weeks!!
thanks again!!
I had my daughter 4 years ago and I still look like I'm pregnant will the belly wrap help me ??????? Please help lol
Hi just also want to say great blog.
I've also just had my 2nd baby 2 weeks ago. At the hospital I was given an elastic like band to wear which was to help me reconnect my stomach muscles as it had split. This had split since my first baby but I knew nothing of it until now four years later.
I also come from Asian background which believes in tummy binding and also applying heat on stomach after birth asap. Although very sceptic about these old wives tales I decided to stick with it this time and it seems to really be doing wonders.
After only 2 weeks, I am back to pre pregnancy weight and to date 8 cms has come off my tummy. I have also been doing tummy flexing ie sucking my tummy muscle in and holding it for 10sec consistently during the day... While I breast feed or just laying in bed or sitting on computer etc this helps to bring the split muscles back together.
I will continue to wear this band and keep with the flexes till I can hopefully firm the tummy up. Goodluck everyone
